An article by the International Business Time regarding gun manufacturers limited liabilities.

Due to mass shootings, certain groups are persuading on limiting who can only buy firearms.

This is more of an expression rather than pushing it as a law. Also, back in 1970, provisions

were made to effectively exempt firearms restrictions by consumer watchdog companies.

The article blamed the National Rifle Association (NRA), which granted the said limited

liability:

These exceptions paved the way for high profile gun rights battles to come and gained

political victory for the National Rifle Association in 1970. However this limits gun owners

accountability for damaged products beyond the civil court system. Although its the

manufacturers discretion should they want to recall a firearm, there is no obligatory

procedure to follow for owners.

The State created such protocol as a form of gun control thus NRA has nothing to do with it.

This is the main reason why gun owners does not support the State.

This current debate on smartgun is just an example of safety being used to prove a

prohibition. The gun control community would rather authorize its use instead of accessing

control technology. This adds cost and irregularity due to the immaturity of the technology to

firearms. It would mean removal of existing firearms from the market since the technology

cannot be changed into older firearms.

If this safety regulation is for the protection of children then it is a good idea. It is just a

matter of too much safety features or cost effective plan to make such production.

The State may modify a certain law without the permission of the public, it has no clauses

that would guarantee it wont be used to certain legal prohibition. Also no alternative if a law

ends up being used to start a ban.

No one would sign a contract without alterations. Should people wants to track on improving

the safety of firearms, then one has to create an independent non government entity to

authorize weapons like Underwriter Laboratories that would allow alterations and ruling out

clichés.
