Arkansas Schools to Permit Teachers to Protect Students with Concealed Carry

January 29, 2014 by Online Carry Training

School shootings are sadly becoming commonplace in today’s news.  Schools are no longer a safe haven for students, instead the children have become sitting targets.  There are random attacks where people go on shooting sprees and there are instances where students bring weapons to schools and attack teachers or fellow students.  It is an unfortunate part of society today.  There are schools that are taking action to prevent further bloodshed.  Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Arkansas is one of those schools.

Clarksville High School has begun training teachers and administrators to defend the school in the event of an attack.  The volunteers in this program all have a concealed carry permit and receive a stipend to purchase a handgun and holster, ammunition, and most important of all—customized training.  The training focuses on recreating scenarios that could happen in the schoolroom.  Students, primarily children of the staff in the program, are used as actors in possible scenarios and teachers are taught the skills to deal with these possibilities.  The training is very focused to how to deal with a shooter on campus. The school plans to post signs on the property that there are armed guards as the next step deterrent, but will not make public which of the teachers and staff are participating in the program.

There have been mixed reactions to the school’s plans within the community and Arkansas as a whole, but overall there is support for the program.

Clarksville High School is just one example of people working to educate themselves on how to safely carry and handle a firearm.  They are proactively educating and arming themselves to protect themselves and their loved ones.  The first step to being a responsible gun owner is education.  The easiest way to get the training you need is at https://school.onlinecarrytraining.com/register.
