Outrageous Gun Laws

October 1, 2018 by Online Carry Training

All 50 states have different rules and laws on guns. There are about 20,000+ federal, state, and local gun laws in the United States. Some state laws on firearms, however, defy logic and may be downright ridiculous. Here are 20 of the most ridiculous gun laws ever passed.

In 2011, Florida became the first state to enact a law prohibiting any health care professional from asking patients whether they own guns or store them safely. The law was later repealed.

It’s legal to sell a rifle to a 16-year old in Maine, Alaska, Minnesota, Vermont or New York.

In Massachusetts, shooting ranges may not set up targets that resemble human beings.

In Colorado Springs, Colorado it is permissible to wear a holstered six-gun within city limits, except on Sunday, Election Day, or holidays.

In Ohio, participating in or conducting a duel is prohibited.

In Pennsylvania, it is against the law to discharge a gun, canon, revolver or other explosive weapon at a wedding.

In South Carolina, every adult must bring a rifle to church on Sunday in order to ward off Indian attacks. Repealed.

In Tennessee, you can’t shoot any game other than whales from a moving vehicle.

In Washington, you cannot carry a concealed weapon that is over 6 feet in length.

In West Virginia, a person may not hold public office if he or she has ever participated in a duel.

In Wyoming, using a firearm to fish is strictly forbidden.

While these gun laws make you chuckle, it is important to know the gun laws in your state, which can change from time to time. Taking a refresher concealed carry training course can help keep you abreast of the latest laws that affect your right to carry.
