The Conceal and Carry road block: Gun free zones

We have all seen them, “gun free zones” that little sign you see in the door or window of your favorite restaurant or business; but do these places actually make people safer? Let’s pose some hypotheticals, if you were a criminal, which you are of course not as shown from you taking this conceal and carry class, would you rather rob the store that has a big sign on the outside that says “We Ban Weapons” or gun store next door? If you are being honest with yourself the prior of the two would be your probable target of choice. So why it that so many lawmakers think that is is the solution to stop mass shootings? When we look at the past 5 mass shootings where did they happen, elementary schools, colleges, buildings that post “ban guns” signs? I think it is safe to assume that criminals and psychopaths have given up a long time ago following the rules, so do these signs stop the shootings, I would argue that the only thing these signs do is put innocent people in danger. Imagine if in that “gun free zone” in Colorado had only one conceal and carry holder inside of it, maybe the events that transpired that evening would have been much different with a story on the back page of the paper reading “Psychopath Shot Dead Before Opening Fire by Permit to Carry Holder”. Unfortunately the outcome was much different than that but the next time you walk into that building that bans weapons you may be playing by the rules but the criminals certainly aren’t.
