A Concealed Carry Protected this Man Against a Robber

April 18, 2016 by Online Carry Training

Terrance Reid, 21, a welder in Toledo, Ohio, while returning home from his shift, noticed something wrong. ABC 13 reported that around 4 am, Reid, pulled in to his driveway and saw a vehicle slowing down as it passed his house. He took his concealed carry pistol from his car and put in his pocket ready for action. An armed man ran from inside his house and immediately went out to the front yard pointing his gun on Reid’s head and saying “don’t move”. Authorities surmise that Reid had a fast draw and was able to place a shot well into the suspect’s abdomen that dropped him immediately.

Reid’s mother noticed the commotion and came out only to see her son visibly shaken. “My son said, ‘Mom, I just shot somebody,” the mother said. “I said, ‘Why?’ He was all shaken up. He said, ‘He just tried to rob me.’”

The police report that Reid’s action was entirely in self-defense. Lt. Joe Heffernan of the Toledo Police Department was quoted saying, “He was a little quicker on the draw and he shot the suspect.” The shooting still under investigation by Toledo Police.

Relatives and neighbors who live nearby attest that Reid is an upstanding citizen who just recently was permitted for a concealed carry. It proves to be just in the nick of time. A nearby neighbor told ABC 13 that he himself had been robbed and jumped in his house. He agrees that Reid is an upstanding young man and supported Reid’s use of force. He added that he too is processing his own concealed carry permit.

“The guy just came out of the blue thinking he can get away with robbing a guy not knowing he is well-protected and licensed to have a gun with him,” says Willis (the neighbor). “So I think he did the right thing.”
