Oklahoma is situated in the prime of “gun country,” and has a long and storied history of gun ownership, and gun friendly heritage as a result.  The State of Oklahoma allows the open carry of loaded handguns with a handgun carry permit and carrying both open and concealed with a concealed carry permit.  The laws governing open and concealed carried went into effect November 1, 2012.  There are restrictions in place when you choose to carry a handgun such as you may not carry in a bar, school, sporting events or government building.  If you possess a concealed carry permit you may carry concealed in places that serve alcohol but you may not consume any alcohol while there.

If you want to get a concealed carry permit in the State of Oklahoma you must meet the following requirements:  US citizen, Oklahoma resident, 21 years of age, complete an Oklahoma Concealed Carry Class and finally demonstrate competency with a firearm on a shooting range.  When all the requirements are met you can apply for a permit and pay the application fee.

There is an additional option to obtain a concealed carry permit if you live in the State of Oklahoma.  The State of Arizona and the State of Oklahoma have a reciprocity agreement meaning that Oklahoma will recognize the Arizona non-resident permit.  The Arizona non-resident permit requirements can be met by taking the OnlineCarryTraining.com course  online from the convenience of your own home and on your own time using any computer, tablet or smartphone.  The expert instructors at Online Carry Training will walk you through all the basics and prepare you for a 20 question exam.  When you complete the course you can apply for the Arizona Non-Resident Multi-State Permit.
