Knowledge is Key to CCW Safely

July 17, 2013 by Online Carry Training

When it comes to CCW, knowledge is one of the most important items you can have regaurding survival. So, you’ve taken your CCW course or your concealed weapon class and think you know everything you need to know about gun safety. Well, you may know some things, but it’s always best to prepare in advance for any circumstance that might come up, and the best way to do this is to have the knowledge you need on hand and ready for you for whenever you might need it.  It’s better to have it and not have to use it than to need it and not have it.

When we’re talking about knowledge, we are not just talking about the things you’ve learned in your CCW class.  Sure, you probably learned a lot of valuable information, but did you learn what to do to troubleshoot problems such as pins getting stuck or other malfunctions that can occur with your guns?  Perhaps your ccw class touched on these topics, but for more in-depth information and knowledge, you should really do some research and make sure you have it on hand.

The key is to be prepared for any occasion. Don’t just do an internet research and save the information to your computer or iPhone.  What happens if the power goes out, and/or you don’t have access to the internet or your mobile device?  In a scenario where a riot breaks out and you are without power and technical access to information, how do you fix any problems that might happen with your gun if you have it all stored electronically?

The best thing to do is to get actual paper or book copies that explain how to take care of your gun. Get books and information for every type of gun you have and make sure they cover all of the problems, mishaps and malfunctions that can occur and how to fix them.  It’s also a good idea to be sure to store these books in waterproof material and have it close to your gun so that it’s always available when you need it.  This way, no matter the situation, you are prepared and can tackle any problem if it were to happen.

Be prepared. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
