October 17, 2018 by Online Carry Training

Mike at The Last Line of Defense video channel recently posted a Youtube video comparing the most popular 9mm polymer guns on the market. The Last Line of Defense Channel is run by Mike who makes AIWB gun holsters and is a CCW. It is geared to people that are concealed carriers and focuses mainly on gear reviews as well as practical tips and advice. LLOD has about 60,000 subscribers and over 4 million viewers.

In his comparison of the most popular 9mm polymer compact guns, Mike uses the following criteria: capacity, weight, length, sights, aftermarket support, ergonomics and shootability.

All of these guns are in the $500-600 price range, striker -fired and are relatively popular guns, which are widely available at most gun stores.

Mike presents the guns in his order of preference.

Sights: rear U notch sight

Aftermarket support: Excellent

Grip: rough textured and has finger grooves

Slide: no front serrations

Trigger: works well, crisp very tactile reset, short trigger shoe

This gun is Nice and big, has a side mag release. Recoil impulse is flat and shoots fast.  The only thing he doesn’t like is the rear notch U sight. This is a great, well made gun.

CZP10C

Capacity: 15 round

Weight: 26 oz

Length: 7.3 in

Sights: 3 dot

Aftermarket support: Weak because it is relatively new

Grip: very texturized,

Slide: front and rear serations

Trigger: small but crisp break, short reset, not much overtravel

This gun comes with different back slides so you can adjust the palm swell, Grip can be a little aggressive, and has a difficult to use mag release. Shoots flat and is quick to get back on target with follow up shots. Overall a nice little gun.

This is a big gun but very comfortable, comes with replaceable grip panels to adjust the feel and grip circumference. mag release is above the right side trigger. Shoots well, Recoil is slight. At the higher end of the price range but a adequate compact gun.

Walther PPQM1

Capacity: 15 rounds

Weight: 24.5 oz

Sights: metal 3 dot

Length: 7.1 in

Sights:  metal 3 dot

Aftermarket support: Weak

Grip: texturized with mild finger grooves

Slide: front and side serations

Trigger: light, short reset time, audible, tactile, very little overtravel

This gun has the best trigger and comes with adjustable back straps, ambidextrous paddle mag release, it has light trigger. Shoots flat but the recoil is strong.

SIG P320C

Weight: 25.8 oz

Length: 7.2 in

Sights: Steel Sig Tritium night wights

Aftermarket support: Good

Grip: wide with just a little texturing

Slide: front serrations

Trigger: good, smooth trigger face, tactile &  audible reset, trigger shoe is not drop safe

The gun is fully modular as the guts of the firearm are all internal but any part of the frame can be swapped out. The grip is not customizable so you have to replace the whole lower frame to customize the fit. Smooth trigger,  easy mag release but safety features leave something to be desired. Not his first choice in CCW.

Springfield HP MOD2

Capacity: 16 round

Weight: 26 oz

Length: 6.25 in

Sights: 3 dot

Aftermarket support: Good

Grip: finger grooves but texturizing is missing in the middle of the grips where you need it most

Slide: front serrations

Trigger: long reset, audible but not very tactile, lots of overttravel

This gun is comfortable and easy to manipulate, but poor grip and poor trigger. Shoots slow and recoil is flippy.  Worst choice in his opinion.
