Top 4 Educational Firearms Channels
This list isn’t the best, most entertaining, or even the most accurate shooting youtubers to date. These YouTubers are the ones that you can learn a thing or two from. They may not be the flashiest, or well produced, most politically charged, or the most entertaining firearm channels, but they provide viewers with a series of educational videos that allow you to walk away knowing just a bit more, and knowledge is power.
Ian/Forgotten weapons
Ian at Forgotten Weapons has taught me more about weapons that I’ve never heard of than I thought imaginable Ian often works with auction houses to gain a little time with these rare weapons, some are not even produced past the prototype stage. Are you fascinated by the Pancor Jackhammer, but can’t find anything about it? Ian has a video on one. Ever want to see a takedown rifle with a hinge crudely screwed into? Japan made one, and Ian has a video on it. Ian doesn’t just cover odd prototypes, and truly Forgotten Weapons, but has taken a look at the Spas 12 and Bren Ten. Ian’s channel is one of my absolute favorites. Plus he taught me how to say Franchi right.
TFB Tv
TFB Tv’s more popular videos are their 5 guns series, which can be somewhat educational, but the most educational series, in my opinion, is the Field Strip Fridays. Here you can see rare WW2 machines like the STG 44 fieldstripped, with a commentary of the weapon itself. The less popular and even less produced myth series has gone on to explore some interesting firearms myths, and I hope they continue the series. Runa nd Gun allows you to see the classic weapons like the Thompson SMG, and the Remington Rolling Block in action, in a more modern shooting environment.
ShootingtheBull410
ShootingtheBull410 is the channel you go to if you have any questions about defensive pistol ammo. His main focus is actually the science behind ballistics, and he is honest to a fault. He’ll explain his experiments, and why some rounds fails and some rounds don’t/ Shooting the Bull allows users to see what their ammo can do in real life, instead of simply taking the word of magazines and ammo companies. His main focus is one handgun defensive ammunition, but he touched on 12 gauge slugs. Shooting the Bull doesn’t just test the more popular defensive ammunition types, but will get into 22 LR, 10mm, and the 5.7 x 28mm. I buy my defensive ammunition based on his tests.
Iraqveteran8888
Mostly known for their small town southern charm the guys from Moss pawn got their start with their popular Gun Gripes series. As their channel gained popularity it evolved into something else. While the 5 guns and Gun Gripes series remain popular, the other series are gaining steam. The meltdown series specifically answer the question about just how many rounds does it take to destroy a Hi Point? A Glock? or maybe an AK 47? Well, Iraqveteran knows. Their how to videos are awesome, and the How far will it kill videos are fascinating if you’ve ver been curious to know how many yards a 9mm can kill at.
